RESUMO

Objective: This study aims to evaluate the efficacy and safety of various acupuncture treatments in conjunction with multimodal analgesia (MA) for managing postoperative pain and improving knee function in patients undergoing total knee arthroplasty (TKA), based on the findings from clinical research indicating the potential benefits of acupuncture-related therapies in this context. Methods: We searched Web of Science, PubMed, SCI-hub, Embase, Cochrane Library, China Biology Medicine (CBM), China National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI), Wanfang Data, and Chinese Scientific Journal Database (VIP) to collect randomized controlled trials of acupuncture-related therapies for post-TKA pain. After independent screening and data extraction, the quality of the included literature was evaluated. The potential for bias in the studies incorporated in the analysis was assessed according to the guidelines outlined in the Cochrane Handbook 5.1. Network meta-analysis (NMA) was conducted using RevMan 5.4 and Stata 16.0 software, with primary outcome measures including visual analog scale (VAS), pain pressure threshold (PPT), hospital for special surgery knee score (HSS), and knee joint range of motion (ROM). Furthermore, the interventions were ranked based on the SUCRA value. Results: We conducted an analysis of 41 qualifying studies encompassing 3,003 patients, examining the efficacy of four acupuncture therapies (acupuncture ACU, electroacupuncture EA, transcutaneous electrical acupoint stimulation TEAS, and auricular acupoint therapy AAT) in conjunction with multimodal analgesia (MA) and MA alone. The VAS results showed no significant difference in efficacy among the five interventions for VAS-3 score. However, TEAS+MA (SMD: 0.67; 95%CI: 0.01, 1.32) was more effective than MA alone for VAS-7 score. There was no significant difference in PPT score among the three interventions. ACU + MA (SMD: 6.45; 95%CI: 3.30, 9.60), EA + MA (SMD: 4.89; 95%CI: 1.46, 8.32), and TEAS+MA (SMD: 5.31; 95%CI: 0.85, 9.78) were found to be more effective than MA alone for HSS score. For ROM score, ACU + MA was more efficacious than EA + MA, TEAS+MA, and AAT + MA, MA. Regarding the incidence of postoperative adverse reactions, nausea and vomiting were more prevalent after using only MA. Additionally, the incidence of postoperative dizziness and drowsiness following ACU + MA (OR = 4.98; 95%CI: 1.01, 24.42) was observed to be higher compared to that after AAT + MA intervention. Similarly, the occurrence of dizziness and drowsiness after MA was found to be significantly higher compared to the following interventions: TEAS+MA (OR = 0.36; 95%CI: 0.18, 0.70) and AAT + MA (OR = 0.20; 95%CI: 0.08, 0.50). The SUCRA ranking indicated that ACU + MA, EA + MA, TEAS+MA, and AAT + MA displayed superior SUCRA scores for each outcome index, respectively. Conclusion: For the clinical treatment of post-TKA pain, acupuncture-related therapies can be selected as a complementary and alternative therapy. EA + MA and TEAS+MA demonstrate superior efficacy in alleviating postoperative pain among TKA patients. ACU + MA is the optimal choice for promoting postoperative knee joint function recovery in TKA patients. AAT + MA is recommended for preventing postoperative adverse reactions. RESUMO

Introduction: Attentional enhancement has often been identified as the central cognitive mechanism underlying the benefits of mindfulness meditation. However, the extent to which this enhancement is observable in the neural processes underlying long-term meditation is unclear. This current study aimed to examine differences in attentional performance between meditators and controls (non-meditators) using a visual oddball task with concurrent electroencephalography (EEG) recordings. Methods: Thirty-four participants were recruited, including 16 meditators and 18 healthy controls, who were non-meditators. The participants completed a visual oddball task, using visual stimuli, and EEG recording. Results: Self-reports revealed that meditators had higher mindful attention scores than did the control group. The behavioral results showed that the meditators demonstrated faster reaction times than the non-meditators did. Neural findings indicated a higher P2 amplitude in the meditators than in the controls. The meditators demonstrated a significantly higher P3 in the target trials than in the distractor trials, which was not observed in the controls. Additionally, the time-frequency analysis demonstrated that the delta and theta powers in the meditators were significantly higher than those in the controls. Conclusions: The study suggests the meditators exhibited greater attentional performance than the controls did, as revealed by EEG and behavioral measures. This study extends previous research on the effects of mindfulness meditation on attention and adds to our understanding of the effects of long-term mindfulness meditation.

RESUMO

The formation of calcium oxalate (CaOx) crystals in the kidneys leads to renal epithelial damage and the progression of crystalline nephropathy. This study investigated the role of STIP1 homology and U-box protein 1 (STUB1), an E3 ubiquitin ligase, and cystic fibrosis transmembrane conductance regulator (CFTR), a chloride channel, in CaOx-related renal damage and autophagy regulation. HK-2 cells were treated with various doses of CaOx monohydrate (COM) to simulate kidney injury in vitro. Cell viability, reactive oxygen species (ROS) production, and apoptosis were assessed. The regulation of CFTR ubiquitination by STUB1 was confirmed by immunoprecipitation. An in vivo model was established by injecting mice with glyoxylate. COM treatment dose-dependently decreased cell viability, increased TNF-α and ROS production, and induced apoptotic cell death in HK-2 cells. COM-treated cells also showed decreased CFTR protein expression. CFTR overexpression improved cell viability and reduced ROS production in COM-stimulated HK-2 cells. Bioinformatics analysis predicted CFTR's ubiquitination binding site for STUB1. Further analysis confirmed the role of STUB1 as a ubiquitin ligase in CFTR degradation. Knockdown of STUB1 upregulated CFTR expression, while STUB1 overexpression had the opposite effect. Knockdown of CFTR reversed the impact of STUB1 deficiency on autophagy. The in vivo experiments showed that CFTR overexpression attenuated kidney tissue damage and CaOx deposition in mice. STUB1-mediated CFTR ubiquitination plays a crucial role in mitigating calcium oxalate-related renal damage by regulating autophagy. Targeting the STUB1/CFTR axis may hold therapeutic potential for treating kidney injury associated with calcium oxalate deposition.

RESUMO

Quantum dot (QD) light-emitting diodes (QLEDs) are promising for next-generation displays, but suffer from carrier imbalance arising from lower hole injection compared to electron injection. A defect engineering strategy is reported to tackle transport limitations in nickel oxide-based inorganic hole-injection layers (HILs) and find that hole injection is able to enhance in high-performance InP QLEDs using the newly designed material. Through optoelectronic simulations, how the electronic properties of NiOx affect hole injection efficiency into an InP QD layer, finding that efficient hole injection depends on lowering the hole injection barrier and enhancing the acceptor density of NiOx is explored. Li doping and oxygen enriching are identified as effective strategies to control intrinsic and extrinsic defects in NiOx, thereby increasing acceptor density, as evidenced by density functional theory calculations and experimental validation. With fine-tuned inorganic HIL, InP QLEDs exhibit a luminance of 45 200 cd m-2 and an external quantum efficiency of 19.9%, surpassing previous inorganic HIL-based QLEDs. This study provides a path to designing inorganic materials for more efficient and sustainable lighting and display technologies.

RESUMO

INTRODUCTION: To evaluate the diagnostic efficiency among the clinical model, the radiomics model and the nomogram that combined radiomics features, frozen section (FS) analysis and clinical characteristics for the prediction of lymph node (LN) metastasis in patients with papillary thyroid cancer (PTC). METHODS: A total of 208 patients were randomly divided into two groups randomly with a proportion of 7:3 for the training groups (n = 146) and the validation groups (n = 62). The Least Absolute Shrinkage and Selection Operator (LASSO) regression was used for the selection of radiomics features extracted from ultrasound (US) images. Univariate and multivariate logistic analyses were used to select predictors associated with the status of LN. The clinical model, radiomics model and nomogram were subsequently established by logistic regression machine learning. The area under the curve (AUC), sensitivity and specificity were used to evaluate the diagnostic performance of the different models. The Delong test was used to compare the AUC of the three models. RESULTS: Multivariate analysis indicated that age, size group, Adler grade, ACR score and the psammoma body group were independent predictors of lymph node metastasis (LNM). The results showed that in both the training and validation groups, the nomogram showed better performance than the clinical model, albeit not statistically significant (p > .05), and significantly outperformed the radiomics model (p < .05). However, the nomogram exhibits a slight improvement in sensitivity that could reduce the incidence of false negatives. CONCLUSION: We propose that the nomogram holds substantial promise as an effective tool for predicting LNM in patients with PTC.

RESUMO

Efficiency is paramount in enhancing the performance and cost-effectiveness of solar cells. Recent advancements in single-junction perovskite solar cells (PSCs) have yielded an impressive efficiency of 26.1%, nearing their theoretical limit. Meanwhile, multi-junction tandem solar cells exhibit a remarkable efficiency potential exceeding 42%, surpassing the 33% limit of single-junction cells, thereby opening avenues for ultra-high-efficiency solar cells. Tandem solar cells (TSCs) represent a groundbreaking photovoltaic technology, offering high efficiency, low cost, and a simple fabrication process. Among various TSCs, perovskite-organic TSCs (PO TSCs) are particularly promising due to their ability to leverage the complementary strengths of PSCs and organic solar cells (OSCs). PO TSCs are poised to outperform existing TSCs in terms of device performance, manufacturing cost, and diverse applications. The introduction of Y6-series non-fullerene acceptors (NFAs) over the past three years has significantly advanced the development of OSCs, leading to remarkable progress in PO TSCs. This paper commences by elucidating the advantages and potential of OSCs as bottom sub-cells in PO TSCs, followed by an in-depth review of mainstream interconnection layer (ICL) design. It then addresses key challenges in wide bandgap PSCs, including phase segregation, photovoltage loss, energy loss, and long-term stability. The paper concludes by examining critical factors influencing the future development of PO TSCs.

RESUMO

Yanhe River Basin is located in the hilly gully area of the Loess Plateau with serious soil erosion. Strong human activities in the middle and lower reaches lead to fragile ecological environment. Soil erosion status varies among different geomorphic units within the watershed (loess liang hilly and gully region, loess mao hilly and gully region, and broken platform region). In this study, we surveyed the benthic community from the Yanhe River Basin in April (spring) and October (autumn) of 2021. To evaluate the water ecological health status of the watershed and investigate the effects of different geomorphic units on the benthic integrity of the benthos, we constructed the benthic-index of biotical integrity (B-IBI) based on the biological data. We identified a total of 113 species of 73 genera in 4 phyla of benthic fauna, with aquatic insects as the dominant taxa in both seasons. Through screening 26 candidate indicators, we found that the spring B-IBI consisted of three indicators: relative abundance of individuals of dominant taxonomic units, family biotic index (FBI), and relative abundance of predator individuals, and that autumn B-IBI was composed of the number of taxonomic units of Ephemeroptera, FBI value, and the relative abundance of predator individuals. Results of the B-IBI evaluation showed that 83.3% of the sampling sites in the upper mainstem and tributaries were at a healthy condition, while only 28.6% sampling sites in the middle and lower mainstem and tributaries were at a healthy condition. In addition, the health status of the watershed was better in spring than in autumn. The Kruskal-Wallis nonparametric tests showed that benthic density, species number, and B-IBI percentile scores in the fragmented loess area were significantly higher in spring than in autumn, and significantly lower in autumn than in the loess liang hilly and gully region and loess mao hilly and gully region, being mainly caused by the increasing erosion due to the concentrated rainfall in wet season. Results of the redundancy analysis showed that key environmental factors affecting benthic community structure in spring were boulder substrate, chlorophyll-a, oxidation reduction potential, turbidity, conductivity, and dissolved oxygen, and were nitrate-nitrogen, oxidation reduction potential, and pH in autumn.

RESUMO

Background: Individuals with subclinical depression are prone to major depression and experience emotional responses and attentional biases to negative stimuli. Method: In a randomized controlled study (N = 42) using functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI), we examined the neurocognitive mechanisms behind mindfulness-based cognitive therapy (MBCT) combining loving-kindness meditation (LKM) on a group with subclinical depression compared with the relaxation group across emotional face n-back (EFNBACK) tasks and resting state. We also collected behavioral and self-reported data to confirm neurocognitive results. Results: During EFNBACK, the MBCT+LKM group showed greater activation in the left lingual gyrus and right inferior lateral occipital cortex. During rest, the MBCT+LKM group demonstrated increased connectivity of the anterior cingulate cortex and right inferior lateral occipital cortex, right anterior insula and left precentral gyrus. From amplitude of low frequency fluctuation (ALFF) data, activity in brain regions associated with cognitive control decreased and activity in brain regions associated with sensorimotor increased. Conclusion: These results suggest that MBCT+LKM alleviate depression for subclinical individuals through improving executive function when they face negative stimuli.

RESUMO

Depression is characterized by the loss of pleasure and a depressed mood, and it is a common mental disorder in the twenty-first century. Multiple gene imbalances, which are considered pathological factors in depression, were detected in the brain. Electroacupuncture is an effective therapeutic approach for depression that has minimal side effects. As a crucial structure in the hypothalamus-pituitary-adrenal, the hypothalamus plays a key role in depression. Our study focused on the transcriptome level in the hypothalamus of depressive rats. After chronic unpredictable mild stress, the rats exhibited depressive-like behaviors, such as decreased sucrose consumption in the SPT, increased time in the central area of the OFT and increased immobility in the FST. Moreover, electroacupuncture alleviated depressive behaviors. Because of the importance of the hypothalamus in depression, we next detected gene expression in the hypothalamus. A total of 510 genes (125 upregulated genes and 385 downregulated genes) were detected in the hypothalamus of depressive rats. 15 of the 125 upregulated genes and 63 of the 385 downregulated genes could be altered by electroacupuncture, which suggests the antidepressant effect of electroacupuncture. Our study also provided the evidence that regulation of transcriptome in the hypothalamus might be a potential mechanism of electroacupuncture treatment.

RESUMO

Perovskite bandgap tuning without quality loss makes perovskites unique among solar absorbers, offering promising avenues for tandem solar cells1,2. However, minimizing the voltage loss when their bandgap is increased to above 1.90 eV for triple-junction tandem use is challenging3-5. Here we present a previously unknown pseudohalide, cyanate (OCN-), with a comparable effective ionic radius (1.97 Å) to bromide (1.95 Å) as a bromide substitute. Electron microscopy and X-ray scattering confirm OCN incorporation into the perovskite lattice. This contributes to notable lattice distortion, ranging from 90.5° to 96.6°, a uniform iodide-bromide distribution and consistent microstrain. Owing to these effects, OCN-based perovskite exhibits enhanced defect formation energy and substantially decreased non-radiative recombination. We achieved an inverted perovskite (1.93 eV) single-junction device with an open-circuit voltage (VOC) of 1.422 V, a VOC × FF (fill factor) product exceeding 80% of the Shockley-Queisser limit and stable performance under maximum power point tracking, culminating in a 27.62% efficiency (27.10% certified efficiency) perovskite-perovskite-silicon triple-junction solar cell with 1 cm2 aperture area.

RESUMO

Small bowel vascular malformation disease (SBVM) commonly causes obscure gastrointestinal bleeding (OGIB). However, the pathogenetic mechanism and the role of lncRNAs in SBVM remain largely unknown. Here, we found that hypoxia and low-glucose environments co-augment angiogenesis and existed in SBVM. Mechanistically, hypoxia and low-glucose environments supported angiogenesis via activation of hypoxia and glucose deprivation-induced lncRNA (HGDILnc1) transcription by increasing binding of the NeuroD1 transcription factor to the HGDILnc1 promoter. Raised HGDILnc1 acted as a suppressor of α-Enolase 1 (ENO1) small ubiquitin-like modifier modification (SUMOylation)-triggered ubiquitination, and an activator of transcription of Aldolase C (ALDOC) via upregulation of Histone H2B lysine 16 acetylation (H2BK16ac) level in the promoter of ALDOC, and consequently promoting glycolysis and angiogenesis. Moreover, HGDILnc1 was clinically positively correlated with Neurogenic differentiation 1 (NeuroD1), ENO1, and ALDOC in SBVM tissues, and could function as a biomarker for SBVM diagnosis and therapy. These findings suggest that hypoxia and low-glucose environments were present in SBVM tissues, and co-augmented angiogenesis. Hypoxia and low-glucose environments co-induced HGDILnc1, which is higher expressed in SBVM tissue compared with normal tissue, could promoted glycolysis and angiogenesis.

RESUMO

Energy can exist in nature in a wide range of forms. Energy conversion refers to the process in which energy is converted from one form to another, and this process will be greatly enhanced by energy conversion sensitizers. Recently, an emerging class of new materials, namely liquid metals (LMs), shows excellent prospects as highly versatile materials. Notably, in terms of energy delivery and conversion, LMs functional materials are chemical responsive, heat-responsive, photo-responsive, magnetic-responsive, microwave-responsive, and medical imaging responsive. All these intrinsic virtues enabled promising applications in energy conversion, which means LMs can act as energy sensitizers for enhancing energy conversion and transport. Herein, first the unique properties of the light, heat, magnetic and microwave converting capacity of gallium-based LMs materials are summarized. Then platforms and applications of LM-based energy conversion sensitizers are highlighted. Finally, some of the potential applications and opportunities of LMs are prospected as energy conversion sensitizers in the future, as well as unresolved challenges. Collectively, it is believed that this review provides a clear perspective for LMs mediated energy conversion, and this topic will help deepen knowledge of the physical chemistry properties of LMs functional materials.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND AND HYPOTHESIS: Pruritus is a common and distressing symptom that affects patients with chronic kidney disease. The concentration of protein bounded uremic toxin was associated with the uremic pruritus. The aim is to assess the efficacy of AST-120 for uremic pruritus in hemodialysis patients. MATERIALS AND METHODS: The participants were enrolled and then divided into the AST-120 treatment group and control group with a ratio of 2:1. All participants underwent pre-observation screenings two weeks before the study with three visits. In the treatment phase (week 1 to week 4), the treatment group added 6g/day of AST-120 along with routine anti-pruritic treatment. Visual analog scale (VAS) and biochemical parameters were measured. RESULTS: The VAS score began to be lower in the AST-120 treatment group after the 5th visiting (p < 0.05). The reduction in indoxyl sulfate (IS) at 5th week along with TNF-alpha. The reduction ratio of indoxyl sulfate correlated with reduction of parathyroid hormone. CONCLUSION: This study has demonstrated that the four-week treatment of AST-120 decreased the severity of uremic pruritus in patients with ESRD. The concentration of IS and TNF-alpha decreased in the AST-120 treatment group. The reduction of iPTH correlated with the reduction of IS in the AST-120 treatment.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND/PURPOSE: Patients with alcohol-associated cirrhosis and acute decompensation are considered critically ill and have a higher risk of short-term mortality. This study aimed to establish a nomogram to evaluate their 90-day survival and identify factors that affect disease progression. METHODS: We included patients from September 2008 to December 2016 (n = 387 in the derivation group) and from January 2017 to August 2020 (n = 157 in the validation group). LASSO regression and Cox multivariate risk regression were used to analyze the influencing factors of the 90-day mortality risk, and a nomogram was constructed. The performance of a model was analyzed based on the C-index, area under the receiver operating curve, calibration curve, and decision curve analysis. RESULTS: Total bilirubin >10 upper limit of normal, high-density lipoprotein cholesterol, lymphocyte and monocyte ratios ≤2.33, white blood cells, and hemoglobin were identified as independent risk factors affecting the 90-day mortality risk of patients and the nomogram was developed. A nomogram demonstrated excellent model predictive accuracy in both the derivation and validation cohorts (C-index: 0.976 and 0.945), which was better than other commonly used liver scoring models (p < 0.05). The nomogram also performed good calibration ability and more clinical net benefit. According to the nomogram score, patients were divided into high- and low-risk groups. Mortality was significantly higher in the high-risk group than in the low-risk group (p < 0.0001). CONCLUSION: The nomogram could accurately predict the 90-day mortality risk in patients with alcohol-associated cirrhosis and acute decompensation, helping to identify high-risk patients and personalize treatment at their first admission.

RESUMO

Machine learning (ML) is increasingly becoming a common tool in computational chemistry. At the same time, the rapid development of ML methods requires a flexible software framework for designing custom workflows. MLatom 3 is a program package designed to leverage the power of ML to enhance typical computational chemistry simulations and to create complex workflows. This open-source package provides plenty of choice to the users who can run simulations with the command-line options, input files, or with scripts using MLatom as a Python package, both on their computers and on the online XACS cloud computing service at XACScloud.com. Computational chemists can calculate energies and thermochemical properties, optimize geometries, run molecular and quantum dynamics, and simulate (ro)vibrational, one-photon UV/vis absorption, and two-photon absorption spectra with ML, quantum mechanical, and combined models. The users can choose from an extensive library of methods containing pretrained ML models and quantum mechanical approximations such as AIQM1 approaching coupled-cluster accuracy. The developers can build their own models using various ML algorithms. The great flexibility of MLatom is largely due to the extensive use of the interfaces to many state-of-the-art software packages and libraries.

RESUMO

Specific bacterial species have been found to play important roles in human vagina. Achieving high species-level resolution is vital for analyzing vaginal microbiota data. However, contradictory conclusions were yielded from different methodological studies. More comprehensive evaluation is needed for determining an optimal pipeline for vaginal microbiota. Based on the sequences of vaginal bacterial species downloaded from NCBI, we conducted simulated amplification with various primer sets targeting different 16S regions as well as taxonomic classification on the amplicons applying different combinations of algorithms (BLAST+, VSEARCH, and Sklearn) and reference databases (Greengenes2, SILVA, and RDP). Vaginal swabs were collected from participants with different vaginal microecology to construct 16S full-length sequenced mock communities. Both computational and experimental amplifications were performed on the mock samples. Classification accuracy of each pipeline was determined. Microbial profiles were compared between the full-length and partial 16S sequencing samples. The optimal pipeline was further validated in a multicenter cohort against the PCR results of common STI pathogens. Pipeline V1-V3_Sklearn_Combined had the highest accuracy for classifying the amplicons generated from both the NCBI downloaded data (84.20% ± 2.39%) and the full-length sequencing data (95.65% ± 3.04%). Vaginal samples amplified and sequenced targeting the V1-V3 region but merely employing the forward reads (223 bp) and classified using the optimal pipeline, resembled the mock communities the most. The pipeline demonstrated high F1-scores for detecting STI pathogens within the validation cohort. We have determined an optimal pipeline to achieve high species-level resolution for vaginal microbiota with short amplicons, which will facilitate future studies.IMPORTANCEFor vaginal microbiota studies, diverse 16S rRNA gene regions were applied for amplification and sequencing, which affect the comparability between different studies as well as the species-level resolution of taxonomic classification. We conducted comprehensive evaluation on the methods which influence the accuracy for the taxonomic classification and established an optimal pipeline to achieve high species-level resolution for vaginal microbiota with short amplicons, which will facilitate future studies.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Cognitive impairment (CI) is one of the major complications in chronic kidney disease patients, especially those with end-stage renal disease (ESRD). Limited biomarkers have been found that can significantly predict ESRD-associated cognitive decline. OBJECTIVE: This cohort study aimed to investigate de novo biomarkers for diagnosis of the ESRD-associated CI. METHODS: In this cohort study, qualified samples were divided into control (with an estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR) of≥60 mL/min and a Mini-Mental State Examination (MMSE) score of > 27), ESRD without CI (eGFR < 15 and MMSE > 27), and ESRD with CI (eGFR < 15 and MMSE < 27) groups. Levels of plasma amyloid-ß (Aß)1 - 42, serum indoxyl sulfate, and hematologic and biochemical parameters were measured. RESULTS: Compared to the control group, levels of blood urea nitrogen, creatinine, and indoxyl sulfate were elevated in ESRD patients both without and with CI. Interestingly, ESRD patients with CI had the lowest levels of serum albumin. In contrast, levels of plasma Aß1 - 42 were significantly higher in the ESRD with CI group than in the control and ESRD without CI groups. In addition, the ratio of plasma Aß1 - 42 over serum albumin was significantly higher in the ESRD with CI group than in the control or ESRD without CI groups. Importantly, the area under the receiver operating characteristic curve (AUROC) for CI in the total population by the ratio of Aß1 - 42 over albumin was 0.785 and significant (p < 0.05). CONCLUSIONS: This cohort study has shown that the ratio of plasma Aß1 - 42 over serum albumin can be a de novo biomarker for the diagnosis and prognosis of ESRD-associated cognitive decline.

RESUMO

The experimental replicability of highly efficient perovskite solar cells (PSCs) is a persistent challenge faced by laboratories worldwide. Although trace impurities in raw materials can impact the experimental reproducibility of high-performance PSCs, the in situ study of how trace impurities affect perovskite film growth is never investigated. Here, light is shed on the impact of inevitable water contamination in lead iodide (PbI2 ) on the replicability of device performance, mainly depending on the synthesis methods of PbI2 . Through synchrotron-based structure characterization, it is uncovered that even slight additions of water to PbI2 accelerate the crystallization process in the perovskite layer during annealing. However, this accelerated crystallization also results in an imbalance of charge-carrier mobilities, leading to a degradation in device performance and reduced longevity of the solar cells. It is also found that anhydrous PbI2 promotes a homogenous nucleation process and improves perovskite film growth. Finally, the PSCs achieve a remarkable certified power conversion efficiency of 24.3%. This breakthrough demonstrates the significance of understanding and precisely managing the water content in PbI2 to ensure the experimental replicability of high-efficiency PSCs.
